TAXI AND UBER SERVICE:
Cabs and Uber service are typically available at both the Kingston Amtrak Station (30 minutes from Newport) and T.F. Green Airport (45 minutes from Newport). Please note the destination address for the Harborside Inn is 1 Christie’s Landing, Newport. Cab companies may require reservations for out-of-town pickups. RIPTA public bus service is also available from Kingston Amtrak Station to downtown Newport on an approximately hourly basis, but do check schedules, or give us a call for assistance.

DRIVING FROM SOUTH – NY, NJ, CT
Follow 95 North to Exit 3, Route 138 East. Follow 138 East approximately 30 minutes (through Kingston and past the University of Rhode Island) until you reach a major intersection with Route 1N; turn left at the light. Proceed two miles on Route 1, then exit for 138 East, Jamestown/Newport Bridges. Go over both bridges, passing through a toll before the second bridge. Stay in the right lane as you descend the Newport Claiborne Pell Bridge, and take the first exit for “Scenic Newport.” Turn right at the bottom of the ramp. Go straight through the light and pass between two cemeteries. Turn slightly right at the second light onto America’s Cup Avenue. Proceed approx. 1/2 mile through several lights, past the wharf area, then get in the right lane to take a right onto Thames Street just before the Red Parrot restaurant. After right turn on Thames, take another immediate right onto Christie’s Landing, where the Harborside Inn is located. Park in any spot directly in front of the inn.
DRIVING FROM NORTH – BOSTON AREA
Follow Route 24 South to Fall River, MA, then exit onto 195W/114S, staying on 195 for only one exit before exiting onto 114S. Follow 114S approximately 30 minutes. While this is a direct route straight into downtown Newport, we recommend taking a left turn on Valley Road (just after Staples and Home Depot) to avoid traffic. Proceed several miles on Valley Road through two traffic lights and onward toward Newport’s Easton’s Beach. As the road bears sharply right and starts to pass the beach on the left, you are then on Memorial Boulevard heading into Newport. Go straight up and over the hill, through a major intersection with Bellevue Avenue, then down the hill to take a left onto Thames Street at the Red Parrot restaurant. After left onto Thames, take an immediate right onto Christie’s Landing, where the Harborside Inn is located. Park in any spot directly in front of the inn.
DRIVING T.F. GREEN AIRPORT (PVD)
Head out of the airport heading Northeast and follow signs for Route I-95. Merge onto I-95 S toward New York. Stay in the left lanes, then take Exit 9, Route 4 S, toward North Kingstown (left exit). Continue on RI-4 for about 10 miles, when US-4 will merge slightly right onto US-1S /Tower Hill Road. Shortly after this merge, take a right-hand exit onto RI-138E toward Jamestown/Newport Bridges. Continue over two bridges, with a toll before the second bridge. When descending the second bridge (Newport Claiborne Pell Bridge), stay in right lane and take the first exit for “Scenic Newport”. At the end of ramp turn right. Stay straight through the first light, and pass between two cemeteries. At the second light, turn slightly right onto America’s Cup Avenue. Proceed approx. 1/2 mile through several lights, past the wharf area, then get in the right lane to take a right onto Thames Street, just before Red Parrot restaurant. After right turn on Thames, take another immediate right onto Christie’s Landing, where the Harborside Inn is located. Park in any spot directly in front of the inn.
DRIVING FROM AMTRAK TRAIN STATION / KINGSTON, RI
Exit the train station to Kingston Road and turn right, onto Route 138 East. Follow Route 138 East for 5.6 miles to a major intersection with US-1, then turn left onto Route 1 North, Tower Hill Road. Follow Route 1N for just over two miles, then take a right for RI-138E towards Jamestown/ Newport Bridges. Continue over two bridges, with a toll before the second bridge. When descending the second bridge (Newport Claiborne Pell Bridge), stay in right lane and take the first exit for “Scenic Newport”. At the end of ramp turn right. Stay straight through the first light, and proceed along Farewell Street between two cemeteries. Turn slightly right at the second light onto America’s Cup Avenue. Proceed approx. 1/2 mile through several lights, past the wharf area, then get in the right lane to take a right onto Thames Street, just before Red Parrot restaurant. After right turn on Thames Street, take an immediate right onto Christie’s Landing, where the Harborside Inn is located. Park in any spot directly in front of the inn.
